The proposal is for an eleven storey, 147 bedroom hotel and ground floor retail unit.
The site, at the intersection of Oxford Road and Hulme Street, is a key “gateway” into the southern part of Manchester city centre. The proposal establishes three volumes of varying height, which respond to neighbouring buildings within the Oxford Road corridor. These volumes also respond to the gridded street pattern by aligning the largest proposed block with Hulme Street, therefore locking the building into its context. The elevations are composed from a limited palette of materials, including dark grey bricks and aluminium framed windows.
