The design is for a new build primary school to accommodate 420 for New Islington Free School. It is located within the New Islington Regeneration. This proposal is a linear building orientated parallel to the New Islington Marina, providing the classrooms with an inspirational view for the pupils. The entrance connects to a double height internal street that is intended as a break-out teaching space.
A dramatic skylight is proposed across the entire length enabling the heart of the building to be flooded with daylight. All rooms within the building are accessible from this space. The external appearance of the building has been crafted so as to visually engage with the neighbouring listed mills without resorting to pastiche
